Introduction

High energy astrophysics studies physical mechanisms of high energy phenomena from astrophysical objects, involving thermal and nonthermal particles and observed with electromagnetic radiations in radio, X-ray and ray as well as with neutrino and gravitational radiation. Through a collaboration among theoretical astrophysics, observational astronomy, and laboratory astrophysics, clusters of galaxies and compact objects, where high energy astrophysical phenomena are clearly manifested, will be studied. In the proposed research center, an innovative group, who will lead high energy astrophysics researches in Korea, will be established, and also a group of talented young researchers will be trained.
